Five of my FAQs

Here it is - everything you've never wanted to know about me. My (*fake*) frequently asked questions. Because no one ever really asks me questions. But if you'd like to here's your chance - ask below in the comments and I will answer next week!

If you could have any job, what would you choose?

I love photography, but I know around here you can't really make a living off of only that. But if you could? I would so be there. Besides that, I'd love to be a writer, or better yet and card-maker, if there was real money in that. 

You have one child, do you want anymore? If so, how long until you'd  want another?

I'm pretty sure I want more. I think growing up as an only child would be lonely. But I wouldn't want another until Chloe is a bit older - at least two or three. Mama needs a break. 

If you could do one thing in your life differently, what would it be?

Probably my education. I wasted a year at one school and didn't finish, then went to another school for a year and finished but did nothing with my education. It left me with a bunch of loans for no reason. I wish I would've know more about what I wanted to do back then. 

What's your relationship status?

I've noticed some people have been saying 'hubby', well there is no hubby. I do currently live with Chloe's father. We officially broke up back in May, tried again to work on things, but called it quits for good shortly before she was born. It sounds crazy and really it's not ideal, but for now it's the easiest thing for us. 

What's the hardest thing about being a new mom?

Hah.. everything? But really losing the 'me' time is the hardest. I miss watching tv without worrying about feeding or crying or me needing to go to sleep. I miss crafting the most. I miss being able to slowly browse around stores to kill time. Hell, I miss having time to kill. I'm sure I'll gain some 'me' time back eventually, but right now I miss it the most. The lack of sleep some nights is really hard too, but I'd have to say I've been lucky in the area for the most part. Only a few really bad sleepless nights.

My 30 Photos - Part 3

21. a picture of someone you always have a good time with:

Here lays my best friend and ex-roommate in a pile of snow bean chair guts. It was my bean chair. We brought it outside for some unknown reason, maybe to sit on while we drunkenly waited for our cab to pick us up. I believe we shoved it between our two cars, hoping it would stay hidden. NOPE. We got home from the bar to find artificial snow everywhere and we LOVED it. We rolled around in it in the parking lot for at least 15 minutes. We didn't love it so much when real snow covered it, and some of it was still there when it melted in the spring. What a MESS.

22. a picture of your parents when they were your age:

That is hard to find, so instead here is a picture of my mother's mother - who is probably somewhere around my age in this photo.

I graduated high school, class of 05! I also graduated college but who cares about that.

Not all my closest friends, but 3/4 of my closest girls. Sorry boys. Note to self: we need more group pictures!

This one gets posted a lot, cause it's one of very few nice pictures of us.

30. someone you will never let go of:

Seems pretty self-absorbed, right? But no, I mean that little kumquat growing in my belly. You're stuck with me for life!

The CN Tower didn't excite me much, but I loved being in Ontario, and my short time in Toronto. It was my first time anywhere far from home.

14. a picture that reminds you of great times:

I was SO sick this entire weekend that my friends were visiting - it wasn't anything that kept me in bed but it was a bad enough fever that I was pretty high on cold medication. Regardless, I had a blast. Here, we were hanging out in Zellers like it was a regular day at home.

15. a class photo: 

Kindergarten! I'm the one in the white dress with the flower on my right shoulder - I'm middle-left of the photo.

16. a picture from the best day of your life:

I have a hard time picking out a 'best', but the day my nephew was born is definitely one of the best days of my life.

17. a picture that always makes you laugh:

Note: The boy did not get hurt.


18. a picture of your spare time:

Sometimes in my spare time I go 'shopping' just to try on weird clothes with wings instead of sleeves.

19. a photo from a great night:

An awesome night out with old friends. We were all over the place that night. This is me in my chef's hat at Sarah's dorm. February 2007.

20. a picture of the people who are closest to you:

I don't like this one because I know there's no one picture of the people closest to me but whatever. I picked three pictures.

My 30 Photos - Part 1

Everyone's been doing this, and I am not one to be left out. 30 photos. Plain and simple. Originally stolen from Sometimes Sweet. Here's part one of three.



01. someone you spend a lot of time with:

Since boyfriend would be the obvious answer but he's mentioned below, I picked mother for this one. After all, we do currently live together, but I still don't see her as much as one would think. We work complete opposite schedules.


02. a picture of you:

Christmas 2010.


03. a random picture of you and your sig. other:

Nothing more random than an old webcam photo.


04. a picture of something that makes you happy:

Seeing Pepe up and joking around. A stroke can't knock this guy out of commission.


05. an old picture of you:

It's one of the oldest ones I could find. It's in high school - the day of my 16th birthday. Nicole, Me and Sheldon.

06. a picture of your sibling:

Sibling? I've got two, and they're twins. This would be them back in 2009, brother's high school graduation night.


07. a picture you never posted on your blog before:

Here's a random. Me and the pants from hell. This would've been my second year of college. I lived in an apartment with two roommates - one male and one female. These were Cody's ugly black silk pj pants that I HATED. Eventually, I got to throw them out, but I think it was still a long time after this picture. Once, I hid them on him for a long time.


08 . a picture of a person you miss:

Two of my best  friends.


09 . a picture of people who know you now and then:

I've known Scott since 2002, and Sarah since God knows when.. probably 2000, and they are now the only close friends I have that still live on the island. Out of the friends that know me the best right now, they've known me the longest.


10 . a picture of your favorite place:

My favorite place, and my favorite person.

Things You May Not Have Known About Me

1. The thing that terrifies me the most about having children (besides labor) is when they are a bit older and get sick. (See: My biggest fear)

2. Dealing with my student loan when I was finished school has been one of the most (repeated) stressful situations in my life.

3. I regret taking the legal office assistant course in college, over the business office assistant course. If you took one look at the job listings in my city, you would know why.

4. I'm no fashion expert, but sometimes I see people on the street and wish I could give them a makeover.

5. I would happily skimp on some wedding details when I get married simply so I can have a bigger budget for a photographer. I don't need a fancy cake or the perfect location - I just need my friends, family, and amazing photos to look back on afterwards. I guess I would need the husband as well. 

6. Anytime I watch anything sad, I start to think about my grandfather. (Another random fact: He is the only man I have ever trusted 100% with every bit of my life)

7. There's nothing more relaxing than sitting home alone with a coffee and absolutely nothing specific needing to be done.

8. One of my (smaller) goals in life is to finally make the perfect lasagna. I'm getting closer each time. I've learned that lasagna costs approx. $25 to make a big pan. Assuming you already have the pan :p

9. One thing I would love to do before I have my baby? Take that photography course I've been dreaming of. Two reasons: it will be harder to take after the baby is born, and it would mean I'd know how to take better pictures of the baby once he or she is born. The course is filling up quicker than I'd like :(

10. I can't think of a number 10 because I'd rather be cleaning my room.

30 Days of Truths

Day 01 – Introduce yourself


Hi, I'm Venassa and I'm doing what I am going to call '30 Days of Truths'. I found it somewhere in blogging land, but can't remember where. 


Most of my readers have been around for awhile, and this will all be no news to you, but there are a tad few new people around here who may be reading. 


But this is me, not that long ago, while at work. Seems I'm always at work, since that's where I am now. 

I work front desk at a hotel. I can be a fun job, but it can also be really challenging and hard on the nerves. Have you ever had to put up with a large group of boys running wild with mini hockey sticks? Well, that's how I spend my weekends for most the winter while at work. 


I am 23 years old. I can't believe it. I just won't stop aging so quickly. 


I live in Canada. It's a great place to live, although I wish I didn't live in such a small place. It's nice to be so close to family and friends though. 


A little more about me? I'm basically obsessed with photography. I love reading, writing, pigging out on junk food, watching tv shows in marathon form and more currently: hanging out with my grandfather at the hospital or playing The Sims 3. 


This is sort of the exact same stuff you would find on my about me page, but whatever. Here is is again.

Introduction to Me!

This is me.

Sometimes I make weird faces, like above.

I love music, and I love anything I can do while listening to music, like puzzles. I love puzzles.

I love the outdoors on a beautiful day. I have an obsession with the beach. If the beach was a person, it would want a restraining order. There's nothing much in life that is more liberating then walking down the beach with my iPod singing in my ears, water hitting my toes, and feeling the sun on my skin. Except maybe swings. When I can't be on a beach, you will probably find me on a set of swings. It's where I get my best thinking done.

I love to do creative things like coloring, writing, photography, scrapbooking, blogging (I guess), and just organizing things in general. Sometimes I get the urge to be creative and I just don't know how to work with it.

I have a job that I love, working front desk at a hotel. Despite the crazy children and cranky adults that I sometimes deal with, it's usually a great job. I'm so happy to finally be doing something I love.

This is me and the guy I hired to be my personal PITA (pain in the ass), also known as my boyfriend

(One year on May 15th, 2010)

He makes me crazy a lot, but mostly he's pretty great. I know I'm lucky.

I have the most adorable nephew in the world. He's one of my favorite people. I love him like he's my own, still I'm glad to give him back to his mom when our time together is over. If only he slept past 7 a.m. he'd be perfect.

This little cutie will be 3 years old on January 11, 2011.

But more about me. Here are a few things you will quickly learn about me if you simply read my blog.

• I am addicted to television show boxed sets
• I am terrified of throwing up
• I'm obsessed with taking pictures, and have become really interested in photography

Here are a few things you might not come across in my blog:

• There isn't much that I won't put off to get more sleep
• I actually enjoy cleaning, but usually just when I'm home alone
