My summer goals and how I've failed

Remember when I posted my list of 30 Summer Goals?

Let's revisit that list for a moment to point out how big of a failure I've been.

1. Have a picnic on the beach
Nope.

2. Have a perfectly decorated baby nursery ready
It's not ready yet, but I am a hell of a lot closer.

3. Take birthing classes

4. Open an Etsy shop maybe
Still thinking about it.

5. Go for walks on the beach in the late evening
I've barely been to the beach at all.

6. Get a bikini wax!

7. Get pedicure

8. Make one last trip to NB before baby comes
Didnt.

9. Get outside and READ
I've barely been outside AND I've barely read.

10. Read at least 5 books read over the summer
See above.

11. Make it a point to look awesome at least 5 days a week
Yeah, definitely didn't happen. I live in my pjs right up until I go to work for the day.

12. Ditch the coffees and iced caps and replace them with smoothies.
I got maybe two smoothies all summer, but tons of iced caps and coffees. Lately I haven't had any though, so I guess that's a step forward.

13. Take more pictures - both for myself and for others
I did one photoshoot, and hopefully one coming up.

Yay I accomplished something. Me and B. did this in June and it was a great weekend.

15. Visit the Famer's Market a few times

16. Scrapbook all my monthly belly photos before the baby comes
(Months 1-6 complete)

17. Hit 100 blog followers
Love you guys :)

18. Have an awesome baby shower & make my own invitations

19. Get my money-saving ass in gear
Nope.

20. Play mini-golf

21. Take a weekend vacation or 'babymoon'
This was the same weekend away with B. in June. Kill two birds with one stone I suppose.

22. Make and organize an area in my apartment for crafting
I love having my own space. I posted a photo of my desk only. This was on a clean day.

23. Go to the drive-in
Never made it.

24. Go swimming at least 5 times
I went once in June, once in July. Possibly one other time. I haven't gone much but at least I've gone!

25. Get at least two more photo shoots in this summer
I did one, and hoping to do another for a friend of mine before the summer is over.

26. Make my own popsicles
Fail. I couldn't even bother to make popsicles. At least there's still time.

27. Actually do something with my hair at least one day a week
Big fat fail.

28. Eat at two totally new-to-me restaurants in the city
I ate at a new chinese food restaurant, if that counts, but I think that's it. But I ate out on a deck on the waterfront TWICE and that should count for something :p

29. Take nephew on the harbor hippo tour
I really wanted to, but the money and time just isn't there :(

30. Stop worrying so much
I can't.

5/30.

So hopefully your goals for the summer have been a lot more successful in getting completed than mine. If I actually go through with doing anymore on this list, you may hear about it again, otherwise we'll just let this sad list die on its own.

What I should've put on my list? Get maternity photos done. Cause at least I managed to do that and they turned out great.

Goals for the Summer

To be perfectly honest, I looked at the word 'summer' so much before making this post that now I'm convinced it's not spelled right. It just looks funny. (Sommer? Sumer? Huh?) Don't you hate it when that happens? You say or look at a word so much that it starts to lose all meaning?

This post is about summer.

Last year I made a post about 30 Summer Goals, using one of Mama Kat's writing prompts. I've decided to let it continue into this year and make a new list of goals for the summer. I mean, I think summer is coming. I'm not sure though since it's been doing nothing but raining for weeks now. The list is starting now, until the end of the summer, and since it's still relatively nice in September, we'll count the beginning of September as summer as well. So starting now until I have the baby! Here are the first 20/30, to give me room for more goals later.

So here we have it..

30 Things to Do This Summer
(The first 20)
  1. Have a picnic on the beach
  2. Have a perfectly decorated baby nursery ready
  3. Take birthing classes
  4. Open an Etsy shop maybe
  5. Go for walks on the beach in the late evening
  6. Get a bikini wax!
  7. Get pedicure
  8. Make one last trip to NB before baby comes (one or more!)
  9. Get outside and READ - At least 5 books
  10. Make it a point to look awesome at least 5 days a week
  11. Ditch the coffees and iced caps and replace them with smoothies
  12. Take more pictures - both for myself and for others
  13. Visit the east end of the island
  14. Visit the Famer's Market a few times
  15. Scrapbook all my monthly belly photos before the baby comes (Months 1-3 complete)
  16. Hit 100 blog followers
  17. Have an awesome baby shower & make my own invitations
  18. Get my money-saving ass in gear
  19. Play mini-golf
  20. Take a weekend vacation or 'babymoon'

What are your goals for the summer?
If you decide to make a list, let me know.
I'd love to see what other people are wanting to do.

30 Things of Summer - *Updated

Time to go back and take another look at my list of 30 things I needed to do this summer. I updated some as I went along, but here is the current list!

30 Things I Must Do This Summer

  1. Save up and get my iPhone! (Stopped wanting it, but started wanting it again - still in consideration)
  2. Instead of parking my behind on the couch, drag a book, the computer, ANYTHING, out to the deck instead.
  3. Become comfortable in my dresses, skirts and shorts.
  4. De-clutter my belongings like it's nobody's business. In progress/Almost done
  5. Have one more try at the flea market and get rid of everything.
  6. Try more fruit, even in smoothie form, just as long as it's getting into my body!
  7. Find a few new models for photo shoots and PRACTICE! - Did a family shoot a couple of weekends ago and a pregnancy one today!
  8. Stop driving when I can walk instead - reconnect with my iPod and the outdoors.
  9. Take a chance. Life is too short to be bored.
  10. Savor the moments, stop thinking so much about the future.
  11. Try to wean myself off the internet a bit, like mother's do with their children addicted to pacifiers.
  12. Nap less. I can sleep plenty when I'm dead.
  13. Spend more time with the people that matter.
  14. Those Venus razors work leg-shaving miracles. Invest into the expensive-ness, it is worth it.
  15. Cheetos do not count as a meal. Start eating better. - I'm doing a bit better!
  16. Drive to somewhere I haven't been before. Explore my island a bit more.
  17. Go out and play pool Find someone to play pool together while I sip drinks and watch because I suck at pool.
  18. Camp, at least once. It's been forever.
  19. Read at least 5 books. - I just started #3, I think I fail at this one.
  20. Hit up the farmer's market.
  21. Experience more restaurants that offer patio seating.
  22. Have a picnic on the beach.
  23. Have a picnic in the park.
  24. Take my nephew on a beautiful day and just have fun outside.
  25. Try to have more patience with people at work. - I'm trying, not sure how well I'm succeeding ; )
  26. Go out for fishbowls!
  27. Take some time off and spend it with myself.
  28. Get a pedicure or something along those lines..
  29. Go out drinking whenever I want to.. my drinking days won't last much longer.
  30. Remember this as the best summer ever.

NEW: Kill the neigbour downstairs who insists on playing his guitar outside all the time. Somebody needs to let him know he is not good at it.
(Note: People leaving neighbors place tonight were overheard saying they spend hours listening to some d-bag stroking his ego playing the guitar all night. Made me happy. -June 25

    Starting today.
