Pregnancy: 39 weeks

One last pregnancy update. Or at least it had better be the last one. I am due Friday the 23rd.

I wrote about the night pregnancy started to get painful and how I started showing small signs of labor.

But to recap...

Lots of nightly leg cramping. A lot of pressure/discomfort/pain due to baby dropping a bit lower. A lot of discomfort when moving around. Very tired of being in pain when I look at things on lower shelves when shopping.

Weight: At my last doctor's appointment on September 13th I weighed around 132lbs, I believe, which put me at -3lbs from the week before. According to my scale last night, I am now 139.6lbs. Crazy. But then again, I had a lot to eat last night.

Movement: Still a good amount of movement. More than I had throughout most of the pregnancy. She must be getting big.

Sleep: I haven't been sleeping the greatest, but better than most do at this stage in pregnancy. Leg cramping and troubles rolling over get in my way. Plus for a couple of nights B said I've been shaking and stuff in my sleep. Kind of creepy if you ask me but I can't explain it.

Name: I started painting her name letters for her room. Hopefully they'll be done soon. No announcing the name yet though :p

I can't believe she'll be here any day. I think the excitement is partly to blame for keeping me from getting a good night's sleep as well.

Ps.. One month until my birthday and 4 days until babygirl's supposed to be birthday and also brother and sister's 20th birthday

38 Weeks Pregnant

38 weeks. Um..wow?
Your baby has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.
Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.) [ BabyCenter ]
Well, Mommy and Daddy both have blue eyes so babygirl better end up with blue eyes. Although she could be born with black eyes and black hair like her mother. I was a wannabe goth baby.

Weight: With my tooth problems finally completely gone, I'm eating and gaining weight as normal again. As of yesterday's doctor's appointment, I weighed 134lbs, that's +30lbs so far.

Movement: She's still a lazy girl, most of the time, but sometimes her kicks and movements are pretty intense. I can definitely feel a difference lately. She'll still kick and move anytime her daddy talks to her, but she's stubborn and won't move a bit when I try to get her to move for her grandmother or little cousin.

Swollen Feet? Are finally pretty much gone. Probably because I'm done working as of the 2nd of this month. They aren't as bony as they once were, but they finally look like my feet again. I can do whatever I want all day and never have to put them up. What a relief.

Sleep: I'm sleeping decently most nights, although now I wake up between 9-9:30 every morning no matter what. It's kind of a nice change. Much better than when I was waking up around 11, then napping again at 12.

Name: We know 100% what her name is going to be, but I still haven't announced it. Just a few friends and family know. She's even got a few nicknames already.

I'm getting excited to meet the little miss, but I'm still in no rush to get her out. I'm enjoying my free time now that I'm done work and I'm loving all the sleep.

36 Weeks Pregnant

8 months. 36 weeks. I guess that means if I don't do another update asap, the baby might be born before then. Not that that would be a bad thing.

Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks) Most likely she's in a head-down position. But if she isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an "external cephalic version," which is a fancy way of saying she'll try to coax your baby into a head-down position by manipulating her from the outside of your belly. [ BabyCenter ]
Baby may be packing on the pounds but because of the major toothache I've had for the past week and a half, I hadn't gained any weight in the two weeks since my last doctor's appointment. Probably not ideal at this point, but the doctor didn't say much. The tooth is gone now and I hope to get back to regular pigging out.

Movement: She's been moving a LOT the past few days. I'm not sure why, but it's kind of cool. It's basically the kind of moving I expected her to do long ago, but she hasn't been much of a mover. No keeping me up at night. No kicking my ribs - nothing. Well, the no kicking in the ribs is probably because she's still head-up. So like BabyCenter says above, on my appointment on the 23rd the doctor said in two weeks if she hasn't turned, we will talk about schedule a section or turning her.

Weight: I weighed 130lbs at both of my last two doctors appointments  - on the 9th and 23rd. Which is about 26lbs gained. Still can't see any stretch marks, thank God.

Sleep: She's not interfering with my sleep at all. The toothache was for awhile but I'm starting to sleep better already.

Naming: We finally decided on a name, I think it was around the 14th of this month, right before we took our maternity photos on the 15th. I haven't announced it on here (or to friends!) yet, but I'm almost 100% sure that it's going to be her name.

I finally purchased her baby book on the 24th, something I wanted to get done in case she made an early appearance. I still love looking through mine so I couldn't imagine not having one by the time she got here. I actually bought one, had second thoughts, and exchanged it for another. I started filling it out already so this one is here to stay.

I finally got all my maternity photos, so here they are (some of them, anyway.) I haven't taken any of my own this month, but I'd still like to.

My Maternity Photos

I finally got a small sneak at the maternity photos we got done Monday and I love them so far. I'm just waiting for the disk of the photos to get here in the mail so I can get some printed off. I have an 11 x 14 frame on the wall that needs a good picture in it.

Here are a few. Once I get the rest of the photos I'll post them and do a pregnancy update.

Here's me at 35 weeks.

Love them <3

Ps: Two months today until my birthday. And hopefully less than a month until Miss C is born.

PPs: Kaylee had her baby girl! I don't think there's anyone else that I blog stalk that's due to have a baby before me. I'm next.

32 Weeks Pregnant

My update and photos were all a little late this month. I've been a little lazy, so sue me.

I am now 32 weeks. Wow. 54 days to go. Let's see what Babycenter has to say.
"By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth."

Ugh.. she's only 3.75lbs? Where did the other 20lbs come from then?

[ 31 weeks - at my baby shower ]

My next doctor's appointment (because I rescheduled the last one) is tomorrow, so I'll probably update some more then for my own sake.

On with the usual stuff...

Movement: She doesn't move a whole lot more than she did before. I read somewhere that she might move less because her space is getting cramped. I bet that is true because I can almost feel her entire body sometimes, and there's never a time where I can't touch my belly and feel her somewhere. Girlfriend is getting squished in there. But sometimes she moves like crazy. Not little kicks, but more rolling over kind of feelings. I've finally felt her hiccupping a few times, or at least that's what I think the rhythmic soft movement is. It's not her heartbeating, although you can feel that, too.

As for my movement, still not always easy to get up, but not much harder than last month. I've given up my spot on the bed next to the wall, because it's easier to just throw my feet over the edge and stand up than it is to crawl to the foot of the bed for those middle of the night pee breaks.

Weight: Gained about 24lbs. The past couple of days the scale's been reading around 128.6. Once it said 129.6, the closest I've been to 130. I'm waiting to see when I actually hit 130lbs. No stretch marks yet! Mom said she got her stretch marks from me started around her 5th month. My sister has a ton from my nephew and made a hobby out of inspecting my belly the last time we were together, but there are none yet.

Clothing: Just wearing my maternity tops, new shorts, Mom's jeans, regular pjs, and the two pairs of sweatpants that aren't too tight yet. The fact that my legs and ass have put on weight is very apparent when I put on my old sweatpants. Very tight. My wardrobe feels very limited. My hoodies are getting tight and ride up in the front and my lighter jackets won't close. I have one hoodie that's still comfy and serves as my 'summer coat'. Hopefully it'll last the rest of the pregnancy.

Sleep: Sleep is usually good. Last night it was not. I had the feeling that I needed to stretch my leg, but felt like I would have a bad leg cramp if I did. I've had a couple bad leg cramps lately and I'm not welcoming another. I wake up sometimes feeling like the air is just way too hot and feeling a bit suffocating but I turn on the air conditioning in the other room and it usually makes me feel better. I still just make one bathroom break throughout the night.

Eating: I'm not used to being able to eat, but still have my stomach growling. Usually any little bit of food could tide me over for a little while. Not anymore. I need to eat a decent breakfast almost as soon as I wake up, where before I used to be able to wait an hour or so. I drink a glass of milk every night, and almost every morning. It's the only real eating routine I've gotten into.

Baby Shower: Was Sunday July 17. All my favorite people were there - my host/best friend from NB and all of her family, my other best friend from NB and her mother, my close friends who live nearby, all my family including my grandfather, some cousins, aunt, uncle and my great aunt. My step-mother and other half-sister made it. We got so much stuff that we needed. It really was a great day.

Name: We still don't have one, but I really wish we did.

My 27 Week Pregnant Self

Time is flying by. 27 weeks already.
"Your baby now weighs nearly 2 pounds/ 875 grams and measures 14.5 inches/ 36.6 centimetres from head to toe. She can now open and close her eyes, sleeps and wakes at regular intervals, and may suck a finger or thumb. Although they're still immature, your baby's lungs will function with some medical help." [ BabyCenter ]
88 days to go.

Although I haven't felt like I've grown much in the past month, the photos don't lie.

Month 4, 5 and 6

On June 7 we found out it's a girl!

June 15 was my 3rd doctor's appointment. I had my diabetes test and now weigh 119lbs.

Movement: Hers: Now that she's been moving for awhile, I don't notice it as much. And it seems that as soon as I do notice her moving, she stops as soon as I put my hand on my belly to feel. Still no crazy big kicks or anything, but she's definitely a mover.

Mine: Standing up is finally not as easy as it used to be. I had pretty bad back pain over the weekend which slowed me down a lot, then some leg pain right after that. Today it was some butt muscle pain. I feel like I'm in my 60s with all my on and off again pain.

Clothing: Absolutely none of my pre-pregnancy jeans or dress pants fit at all. I still fit in the ones Mom gave me, but the belt is a notch looser than when she first gave me the pants. My shirts mostly still fit, but I did finally buy a couple of maternity tank tops in anticipation of summer. But since nice weather is never going to get here, maybe I should've bought sweaters instead. I bought some shorts to get me through the summer. They're regular shorts, but 2-3 sizes bigger than usual. Haven't really been able to wear them yet since it feels like fall weather.

Sleep: I spent a week being sick and not being able to breathe through my nose, which got me back into the habit of sleeping on my back a lot. I still sleep on my side a lot as well, but if I roll over too fast I feel a little queasy for a few moments.

Eating: I still feel hungry at the drop of a hat. My appetite isn't anything crazy, but still more than before pregnancy of course. Every once in awhile I still get that 'really full' feeling, kind of like my belly took a growth spurt.

Baby Shower: I made and sent out all the invitations. I did decide to reveal the gender through the invitations.

Etc: I decided on a Super Mario / Princess Peach theme for the baby's bedroom. I've started making some of the wall decor myself and have looked into getting a quilt made.

So far we're still feeling pretty good. Still trying to think of names.

Rockin' the Bump

I decided to link up with Shell's 'Rockin' the Bump', simply because I currently have one. These have been previously posted because I can't get my phone to take a decent one of me right now. This was last month, the middle of May, at 22 weeks.

My belly starting out and my belly at 22 weeks

In a couple of days I will have my month 6 (26 weeks) photos up.

Pregnancy Update: Month 5 (22 weeks)

I'm already halfway through month #5, or to put it simply I am 4.5 months along. Although my due date is exactly 4 months from today. If my number of weeks doesn't add up from any of the previous pregnancy posts, it's because when I got my first ultrasound on April 26, it pushed my due date up almost a week.
Your baby now looks like a miniature newborn. His lips are becoming more distinct and his eyes have developed; though the iris still lacks pigment, his eyebrows and eyelids are in place. His pancreas, essential for hormone production, is developing steadily and the first signs of teeth are showing beneath his gum line. [ Via Babycenter ]
Baby Center also says I have "probably" put on between 12-15lbs so far. According to my last jump on the scale, I've put on almost 10lbs.  And here I am this month:

And here's my month 1 belly compared to me currently:

Month 4 - 17 weeks
Month 2-3 - 10 weeks
Month 1 - 6 weeks

Weight: Starting - Approx. 104lbs. On May 14 - Exactly 114lbs. I seem to be pretty much on track with the weight gain.

Milestones:
First Dr. Appointment - April 19
First time hearing heartbeat - April 19
First ultrasound - April 26
First kick - May 6
First time feeling baby through skin - May 9
Second Dr. appointment - May 17
3D Ultrasound and finding out gender - June 6

Movement: Kicking and moving finally started at the beginning of the month, and I love it. It makes everything seem so much more real. I love feeling the kicking or rubbing my belly and feeling big parts (maybe the head or bum) pressing against my hand.

Clothes: All of my jeans are insanely uncomfortable except one pair. Mom gave me some of hers that are too small, which fit me perfectly for the time being. I also started wearing a pair of her black pants to work because all of mine were too hard to button. Finally bought a pair of sweat pants that can pass as dress pants to wear to work. No buttons, so they'll fit for a little while. When they don't, I'll buy the next size up. They're cheap. I still spend most of my time in baggy pj tshirts, work uniform, or hoodies. I'm sure most of my nice t-shirts wouldn't be very comfortable, but since it's still pretty cool out, I haven't tested any of them out.

Sleep: I'm more comfortable sleeping on my side again, but a lot of the time I'll have the belly propped up with a pillow, my blanket, or anything really. Just the past couple of days I've had moments in the middle of the day where I could barely keep my eyes open, even though I got more than 8 hours of sleep. I feel almost like I did at the beginning of my pregnancy for awhile. I hope it goes away for a little while longer.

Eating: I still go from feeling fine to starving within minutes. When I eat a nice big meal, I feel huge and almost get the feeling of my belly growing right then and there. It can be uncomfortable. It's easier to just eat smaller portions often than to eat a lot at once because of it. No weird cravings yet.

Now that I'm getting close to finding out the gender, I'm trying to hold back on spending so I can finally buy gender-specific stuff. But I did buy two pairs of baby girl winter boots because they were $3 each on clearance. No loss to me if I have a boy. There was a book fair going on at the mall when I was there Friday. $1 for children's books so we bought 10 books. I also ordered two of my favorite children's books from a local bookstore since I couldn't find them anywhere - "The Little Red Caboose" and "The Monster at the End of This Book." I already have my first favorite "Love You Forever" that I bought for my nephew awhile back to read when he visits.

Just this week I started thinking about my baby shower, because I want to make my own invitations. I made a trial invitation tonight and like how it turned out for the most part. I'm currently trying to decide if I want to reveal the gender through the invitations. Obviously I would tell the people closest to me beforehand, but I don't know if I want to do it that way. I don't know if I could keep quiet until I got the invitations done and sent out, and there's always a chance someone else lets it slip. I'm still thinking it over. I want people to know before they get to the actual shower though. What are your thoughts?

To sum up, I'm feeling great and it seems, by the way baby moves around so much, that he/she is feeling great too. Time is going by faster than I expected, but still kind of slow. I can't wait for the baby to be here, but I am enjoying all my uninterrupted sleep time.

Pregnancy - My Belly at 17 Weeks

Watch Me Grow!

Week 6 - Month 1 pics
Week 10 - Month 2 & 3 pics

I can't believe I'm at week 17. Time is both flying by and dragging on at the same time. Just today I talked to a co-worker who is just a couple of weeks ahead of me in her pregnancy. She is kind of small like me and is noticeably pregnant. She doesn't I'm showing at all. Looking at the photo above for month one, and looking down at my belly now, I am noticeably pregnant. Wanna see? First, take a look at month one above.. then...

Bam! My belly used to only poke out as far as my breasts. Now, not so much.

I. have. grown. That photo show it the most. Photos were taken April 17th. I would've liked to add this one to my above collage but I'm not on my own computer, and this work computer is too old to do much on it.

Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop. [ Via Babycenter ]
Weight Gain: Doctor's assistant vsit on the 7th said 108lbs. Boyfriend's cheap scale this weekend said 112lbs. I will be weighed today at my first appointment with my actual baby doctor. I originally weighed approx. 105lbs.

Ultrasound: Coming up on April 26th.

Clothes: Work pants are all dress pants with buttons - getting very hard to button them these days. Need a bigger size asap. Most clothes still fit fine. Some show my belly off way more than others.

Sleep: I`m still sleeping great, but now I definitely can`t sleep on my belly, and sometimes it`s really uncomfortable laying on my side. I think I always wake up on my back now.

Eating: My apetite isn`t as crazy as it was at the beginning. Now I eat the same small portions as I always did, but I do eat a little more often. And I can go from normal, to starving within minutes.

Other noticeable things... I use the bathroom oh so often. For example, twice before I went to work this morning, 5 times while at my first job (5.5 hr shift) and 2 or 3 times since I got to my second job (I`ve been here 4 hours). Usually it`s a LOT less.

I think I want to go through my nesting stage. I just can`t wait to set up the baby`s room but I won`t be able to do that until we move, which probably won`t be until September.

No sign of movement yet. No more tiredness than what I`d normally feel. Very rarely do I feel blah at all when waking up in the morning.

I have a crib, change table, dresser and playpen so far. Meaning most of the large items on the checklist are already accounted for.

Next doctor`s appointment is this afternoon. I was also informed by my co-worker that I should make my 3D ultrasound (to find out the gender!) asap because they book up very quickly. I will probably do that today as well.

Basically, all things are still going great.

New News: My first appointment with my doctor was today and I heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time. It's really fast, but makes it that much more real.

Update: My baby isn't a baby anymore. Visit my current blog, A Life of Our Own, to keep up with all the fun.

10 Week Update & Belly Pics

I've had a baby in my belly for about 10 weeks now. I wish I could say time is flying by, but it doesn't seem to be.
Though baby is barely the size of a kumquat — a little over an inch or so long, crown to bottom — and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, your baby has now completed the most critical portion of his development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, when the tissues and organs in his body rapidly grow and mature. He's swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs — including his kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver — are in place and starting to function, though they'll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy. If you could take a peek inside your womb, you'd spot details, like tiny nails forming on fingers and toes and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin. In other developments: Your baby's limbs can bend now. In the coming weeks, your baby will again double in size — to nearly 3 inches. [ via Baby Center ]
I took belly photos in January, February and now March. The February set didn't get posted because they were taken late, but here's my belly  at the beginning (approx 2 weeks in) and in February (approx 8 weeks)

And here's March photos, 10 weeks.

Not a drastic change, but slightly noticeable if you knew me before my belly started hanging over my pants when I sit. Sometimes it really noticeable.

As for me - no more  feeling nausea at all. My appetite has calmed down a little. I'm still tired, but not as much. I've noticed my up top region has gotten a tiny bit bigger, but from their size before it just means I now f it better into my bras.

Mother bought me a few baby clothes - female baby clothes, to be exact - because she's crazy. She probably just jinxed me into have a boy for sure now, but the clothes are cute and it probably won't be hard to find a home for them if I do have a baby that isn't interested in dressing in pink.

I bought a used crib and changing table, but I'm considering selling them for a little more than I paid for them and throwing the money into my baby savings account. I'm starting to feel that I'd rather put the effort into saving for new things than skimping on stuff for my baby. The set was in good condition, just not as good as I want.

Otherwise, not much has changed. I still have those moments where I think "Oh my God... I'm having a baby." I wonder how long until that goes away.

Pregnancy, so far

I think I am approximately 6 weeks pregnant.
This week's major developments: The nose, mouth, and ears that you'll spend so much time kissing in eight months are beginning to take shape. If you could see into your uterus, you'd find an oversize head and dark spots where your baby's eyes and nostrils are starting to form. His emerging ears are marked by small depressions on the sides of the head, and his arms and legs by protruding buds. His heart is beating about 100 to 160 times a minute — almost twice as fast as yours — and blood is beginning to course through his body. His intestines are developing, and the bud of tissue that will give rise to his lungs has appeared. His pituitary gland is forming, as are the rest of his brain, muscles, and bones. Right now, your baby is a quarter of an inch long, about the size of a lentil.  [ via Baby Center

Here are some before (aka right after I found out I was pregnant) belly photos taken January 16th:

Now, I can tell there's a difference in my belly. If I'm hungry, it seems pretty normal but as soon as I eat a little, I balloon out. When I'm full? I look quite pregnant.

I use the bathroom about a million times a day. It's annoying, but I know it's only going to get worse. A lot of mornings I wake up just fine, but some mornings I wake up feeling sick for the first few minutes, sometimes lasting about 20 minutes. Usually it's on mornings that I wake up before my body wants to be awake.

There's been a little increase in appetite. No crazy cravings yet - I've just been drinking a ton of chocolate milk and always wanting ice cream, but none of that is new to me.

I've always slept a lot and hated getting out of bed in the mornings, but lately when I do get up it takes a lot longer for my body to wake up and a lot longer for me to have any kind of energy. I feel pretty blah and tired a lot of the time. It doesn't help that some nights I'm up at least once every hour.

So far it's been pretty easy. I hope it stays this way.
