5 Random Thoughts

1. I got to spend some time with my nephew, Mr Personality, on Tuesday when we went to visit my grandfather. He had a blast dancing in the backseat of the car.

2. I love this Jenna Marbles video. The whole part about not showering everyday? I couldn't possibly relate to that anymore. I can't shower everyday. My hair doesn't look like this from walking out of the shower. Nope, it takes either hours of air drying or 15 minutes of blow drying just to dry my hair. Then about a half an hour of straightening. Add that to the 20 minute shower time and that's a minimum of an hour from shower to hair-ready. It's not easy. Hence the ponytail hairstyle anytime I know I won't be seeing anyone important.

3. Baby sleep training is probably the best thing ever. I only used to put Chloe to bed if she fell asleep. When I used to complain about her never napping? Totally my fault. Baby was tired, she just needed to be put to bed. Sometimes she will still whine or cry for awhile, and sometimes it does get to the point where I will get her up for another hour or so because she just doesn't want to go to bed. But usually, I can put her in her bed awake and she'll put herself easily back to sleep. Only once in months have I had a problem getting her back to sleep through the night. Teaching her to put herself to sleep was the best thing I could've done.

4. I did some thinking yesterday about my life. And about how this is the easiest I'm ever going to have it. Being a single working mother, I'm never going to have tons of money for nice things. Unless I change things, life is always going to be a struggle, financially. And so I made some calls, hoping to head towards better things.

I felt like I had been so productive, until I realized a couple of hours later that the messages I left hadn't been returned, and at no point had I ever talked to anyone who was helpful. So out of the 5 phone calls I felt great about making yesterday, I got no where. Even today, people have yet to call me back. It's too bad one of the calls is time sensitive and it looks like I'll be no where near being ready in time. Thanks a lot, people who can't return phone calls within 24 hours. It's soon time to be the girl that calls every hour or something.

5. I'm heading back home from my mother's today. I'm excited to be back home where we have our own routine and things are simple. But I'm annoyed because I have no phone service and I will have to struggle to follow through on any of my phone calls. I doubt Chloe wants to go sit in the car somewhere to make phone calls. Sometimes I wonder why anything can't be simple for me these days.

Things you might not currently know...

- I'm guest posting today over at Pocket Full of Pink, featuring a few of my favorite crafts I've blogged about over at VB Creations

- Yesterday Chloe hit the 4 month mark, and her 4 month update with photos is on its way.

- I watched The Notebook today, and I had forgotten how much I don't like that movie - and just because of the part near the end where the old lady loses her memory once again and freaks out a bit. It's not that part I hate, but the part of the man crying. Hate, hate, hate it.

- I bought a super-cheap little vacuum and it works so much better than sweeping the floors.

- Every apartment in my building got a notice that they had trouble delivering our mail because the boxes don't lock. It's an old building, and I'm pretty sure they've been like that almost forever. The notice gives a number to call their office. I call the number and there are two options: directory list or customer service. I hit customer service and it tells me to call another number. I hit directory list and they want me to have a specific name of a person to contact. So seriously, why give me this useless phone number in the first place, Canada Post?

- Oh, and I may have met someone.

Jolly Jumper Fun and a Visit with Grandfather

Monday holds so much hate for some people, and back in my days of school and Monday to Friday jobs, I felt the same. I can't quite put my finger on why, but Monday has been one of my favorite days lately.

Today, we're visiting my mom then tomorrow finally heading back home, and this time we won't be leaving for awhile.

Our weekend with my grandfather was great. He was so happy to see her. He spent almost every waking minute talking to her or playing with her. I took him with us to get our photos done, so we got him in a few of them. Of course I took a couple of the two of them myself : )

Today was Chloe's first time in her Jolly Jumper. She's loving it so far. It's nice to have a new toy for her to play in.

If you have any handmade projects or recipes you've blogged about lately, link them up at VB Creations.

How was your weekend?

Randomness for October 6th

I'm not a fan of tv show theme songs.
Especially now that I started watching shows in marathon form.

I've had an energy drink almost every day this week.
In my defense, I usually only drink about half, within the 8 hour span of my work shift.
My goal is to give them up for a little while, starting when I finish this one.
So feel free to tell me how bad they are for me.

I'm trying to eat a bit better.
Mom made me an awesome salad a couple of nights ago with caesar dressing, broccoli and cauliflower.
I've started making eggs for breakfast.
And I had sliced, baked potato for lunch today.
We won't speak of my greasy dinner.

I have no children.
I have no crazy pets.
I have no crazy family members.
Okay, that's a lie, but their craziness is embarrassing most of the time.
I don't have wild nights out with friends.
Not very often, anyway.
I don't have crazy love-inspired stories.
I don't go on many exciting adventures.
My life mainly consists of work, sleep and B.
I'm not overly opinionated.
And therefore, I don't always have things I feel excited to write about.
Let alone force other people to read.
I don't know if that means I need a more exciting life.
Or if I need to get more creative.
Probably a bit of both.

I want to have a giveaway soon.
It would be my first.
Would you rather a chocolate-themed giveaway or a beachy-themed one?
Poll:

Did you know I have a blog just for my current favorite songs?
I updated it approximately once a month.
I started that blog when I lost all my songs on my iPod awhile back.
Simply so that if it happens again,
I will have a list of my favorites to immediately put back on it,
Without forgetting any.
What are some weird things that you do?

How you know it's love; and other randomness

I had to end our 'days of no contact' with boyfriend (I mean ex-boyfriend, friend, roommate?) today because I could not go another night with just one pillow. I had to pick one up from home.

You know what causes happiness? Making surprise plans that can make someone else happy. I went shopping at my favorite craft store and dollar store today.

I got a ton of cheapy cheapy scrapbook paper, two little glass jars (dishes, candle holders?) to be of later use, a cheap photo box, Thomas the Train stickers to use for nephew's scrapbook, and a couple little things for a certain boy who has a birthday in a little more than a week. I feel I've never done anything special for him so I wanted to do a few little things. I love doing it. It's a great thing to be able to focus on right now.

Today is my grandfather's 73rd birthday. My birthday is next and I turn 23. Then my mother turns 43. I think it's cool that we have a pattern with our ages. Mom is 20 years older than me, and my grandfather is 30 years older than her.

He talks about how he's still young. I still get sad because I know he won't be around forever. And I'll never feel like I've thanked him enough for everything he's done for me. He takes care of me better than if I was his own child. He's always been the father figure in my life.

I was once told that there is a simple way to know when you really love someone. If they are the last thing you think about before you fall asleep, and the first thing you think about when you wake up, unless you go to bed hungry.

True story.

Nothing to Blog About

I don't know what to blog about today.

I could blog about how I got a sweet used digital camera yesterday, so now I have one to bring everywhere with me. I'm terrified to hurt my SLR camera, too expensive and fancy.

I could blog about how I cleaned almost the whole bathroom today, but you wouldn't want those dirty details.

{ weheartit - I wish this was my bathroom! }

I could blog about how it's a beautiful day here on my little island, but further west in Alberta they've got some snow (suckers!)

I could blog about how I'm trying to sell every little useless item in this apartment just to clean out the junk and throw a little cash into the savings jar.

I could tell you guys about how I got a new Twitter, and that I would love for some followers, especially so I can find you and follow you back.

I could blog about.. no, I can't blog about that.

I could blog about my amazingly soft pita bread, but that's kind of boring, isn't it?

I could blog about how I wish I could sell off all my furniture (couch, coffee table set, two book shelves, dresser, night table, table) and just start fresh in my new apartment. I would then also tell you about how I couldn't, because I'd just be living on a bed with a tv and laptop.

I could mention that I started my Project 365 today. I tried once and gave up, so here goes again. It's where you take a picture a day for a year.

I could tell you about how I like me some coffee. Iced coffee is good too. You know what's not good... warm coffee gone cold. It's just not the same thing.

But since there's just nothing to blog about, I'll just say that I hope you guys are having a fantastic weekend!

Lamp & Award

I am in a much better mood today, thanks for all the nice comments.

I am not joking when I saw that the highlight of my day today was buying a new lamp. It was such a hard choice, there were just so many nice ones (Wal-Mart, you rarely let me down). The one I got was $20, and is a touch lamp with 3 different light settings. I love it. See:

Isn't it cute? I also just started reading Shoe Addicts Anonymous today. Loving it so far. I finished Goodnight Nobody by Jennifer Weiner at work. My first of her books, and I am definitely a fan. Click the title to read my review.

I got my second blog award ever from Leigh Ashley yesterday. It sort of made my day.

If you haven't been to her blog, click her name and hop on over. I love her blog.

Obviously I had nothing of any importance to say today. I'd just rather go to bed.
