Review: Letters to Juliet

I finally got to see Letters to Juliet tonight.

See the trailer here.

Sophie is in Italy on a pre- honeymoon/work trip with her fiance when she finds an unanswered letter to Juliet. The letter was written 50 years ago and she feels she has to write back, beginning her journey with the author of the letter (and her grandson) to find her love from 50 years ago.

First off, the first time I watched the trailer, I got goosebumps. That was when I knew I had to see it. The movie did not disappoint.

I'm a fan of mindless, predictable love stories. I think they are cute. This is not one of those. I got so into this movie, it was like I could feel their passion. I loved the passion Claire felt for Lorenzo. I loved the passion Sophie had for love and life. Not so much the passion her fiance had for food and cooking over her.

Sophie is such a great character, and Amanda Seyfried plays her perfectly. I had that crying feeling through the last half hour of the movie. Yes, I'm one of those girls.

I'm not one to have too many favorite movies, but this is definitely a favorite on my list. I can't wait to own it and see it again.

I miss...

I miss that summertime feeling.

The feeling you get when you spend the whole day outside. You feel the cool of the morning, the too-hot of the early afternoon, the relief when it cools in the evening, and the reach-for-your-sweater kind of feeling when it gets really cool at night.

I miss freezing in a tent all night, but waking up in the muggy, almost can't breathe temperature in the morning.

I miss walking around in morning-damp grass.

I miss laying in the grass at night with someone you kinda sorta like, and the crazy rush of not knowing what will happen next.

I miss falling asleep on the beach to the sound of the water. I miss the anxious feeling you get when it sounds like the water is too close to your tent.

I miss dancing on picnic tables.

I miss the rush of swinging, when you feel like there's so much in the world to be hopeful for.

And have those moments where you feel like life just couldn't get any better than this.

Getting to Know Me!

1.  Have you ever snooped around someone else's house?
Yeah.. back in my more curious days. It's been years since I've done it.

2. Can guys and girls be friends? ( thanks
Jen!)
Yes. One of my best friends is a guy. It's rare though for a guy and girl to be just friends, usually at least one of them develops feelings for the other.

3. Can you curl your tongue?

Yup

4. Have you ever stolen anything?

Yes.. I actually went through a bad stage of it from ages 10-12 I believe. Stores have never caught me, but mother did.

5. Would you rather talk on the phone or text?

Usually text, unless I have something long and drawn out to say. Not a big fan of the telephone.

6. Memorial Day plans?

I am Canadian, so no.

7. What do you do to relax?

Blog! Or watch tv and go for walks.

8. Do you do anything to honor those that have died fighting for our freedom?
Not really

Nothing to Blog About

I don't know what to blog about today.

I could blog about how I got a sweet used digital camera yesterday, so now I have one to bring everywhere with me. I'm terrified to hurt my SLR camera, too expensive and fancy.

I could blog about how I cleaned almost the whole bathroom today, but you wouldn't want those dirty details.

{ weheartit - I wish this was my bathroom! }

I could blog about how it's a beautiful day here on my little island, but further west in Alberta they've got some snow (suckers!)

I could blog about how I'm trying to sell every little useless item in this apartment just to clean out the junk and throw a little cash into the savings jar.

I could tell you guys about how I got a new Twitter, and that I would love for some followers, especially so I can find you and follow you back.

I could blog about.. no, I can't blog about that.

I could blog about my amazingly soft pita bread, but that's kind of boring, isn't it?

I could blog about how I wish I could sell off all my furniture (couch, coffee table set, two book shelves, dresser, night table, table) and just start fresh in my new apartment. I would then also tell you about how I couldn't, because I'd just be living on a bed with a tv and laptop.

I could mention that I started my Project 365 today. I tried once and gave up, so here goes again. It's where you take a picture a day for a year.

I could tell you about how I like me some coffee. Iced coffee is good too. You know what's not good... warm coffee gone cold. It's just not the same thing.

But since there's just nothing to blog about, I'll just say that I hope you guys are having a fantastic weekend!

The Story of Us

You might expect this to be some cute little love story about me and my boyfriend. Yeah, right. I'm not really the mushy-romantic type. I am, however, somewhat of the friendship-mushy type. I know a good thing when I see it, and this here, is a very good thing.

Let me introduce to you, my best friend. Her name is A. Well, obviously not just A., but that's how she will be named. We met in the cold, dark winter of 2006.

2006

There are not very many pictures in 2006, because as you know, winter 2006 quickly turns into the new year of 2007. We met through a mutual friend, they met in college. Me and A. bonded over Sour Puss shots while she let me borrow her roommate's awesome purple shirt.

2007

I went to her sorority's ball with her and a bunch of friends. She hooked me up with the first pain-in-the-ass that I dated for a couple of months. No details needed there.

We had many drinks & good times in our first year of love friendship. There was lots of drama, some ups and downs. We also became neighbors that year! I was first floor, and she was third floor in our creepy Fredericton apartment building. Her place was newer/nicer than mine. Kind of unfair, if you ask me.

2008

In 2008 we became much closer. We also celebrated St. Patrick's Day - barely (I was in bed by 10:30 - honest, there's no 'got-too-drunk' story there, I was just really tired).

We hit up another sorority ball! We even became roommates for a month. And when I say roommates, I mean she pulled a mattress into my bedroom, piled her things ceiling high in my corner (no lie!), and woke me up almost daily to her Britney Spears ringtone (grr).

Then something horrible happened!

I moved away to my little island, putting 2 hours distance between us at best. Four hours when she was in school all year! But we had many amazing visits.

We also wore crowns for birthday celebrations - A'.s birthday 2008

2009

A's birthday 2009, also the year we traded photo ID's thinking we were being funny. The bouncer did not agree.

In 2009 she got engaged! Just figured I'd throw that fact in there.

2010

Now that I've given you a quick peek through our years of alcoholism & friendship, I'm going to tell you why I love my best friend, in pictures.

Because she's a hottie.

Because she takes awesome pictures with me at the dollar store.

Because we don't have to plan things, we just know (that it's going to be a green shirt/black pants day, aparently)

Because she drinks like a champ!

Because she's okay with looking like idiots together.

Because she washes my car.

She loves my nephew.

She introduced me to her fiance, R., who is now also one of my best friends.

So yeah.. she's pretty great. Definitely worth blowing up a couple hundred balloons for.

Sex and the City

Sex and the City 2 came out today. I am not one to go out and buy tickets ahead of time, or sit in line overnight for things like this. I will probably try to go in two weeks, no rush, but I still can't wait to see this movie.

I used to watch Sex and the City on nights where I'd stay up late watching tv. I know I was too young to be watching something of that nature. I remember how dirty yet exciting all those sex scenes were to young me. Don't get me wrong, I only watched maybe 3 episodes, tops, back then.

In my adult life, I got into Sex and the City because A) I knew it was a good show, and B) there was a really good boxing day sale on the boxed set in 2009.

I bought as many seasons as I could afford while they were on sale, got a great deal on some more from an ad online. I got through seasons 1-5 very quickly since I owned them all, but it took me months to buy both parts of season 6 and watch them.

To this day, I watch it whenever I see it on tv. Never mind that I own the complete series and could watch it anytime. I also can't wait to completely watch it all over again.
Fun fact: Sarah Jessica Parker is 3 years older than my Mom.

Charlotte: So how are you?
Carrie: I'm good. How are you?
Charlotte: Great.
Carrie: I told Aidan about the affair and he broke up with me.
Charlotte: Trey and I never had sex on our honeymoon.
Carrie: You win. So. Should we get more coffee or should we get two guns and kill ourselves?”

Miranda: Do you have a rolling pin?
Carrie: On me?
Miranda: In your kitchen.
Carrie: Are you kidding me? I use my oven for storage.

I so want to go on this tour if I ever go to NY.

Do you have a favorite SATC girl? I think Miranda is mine. It feels like time to pull out the old Sex and the City dvds and watch it straight through for the millionth time.
