La Esquina de la Estrellita

Today is the start of something new. I am featuring the person who is at the top of my 'top commenters' list on my sidebar. I hope to try this weekly, or at times bi-weekly. If the same person is at the top the following week, I'll pick the next person in line. There will be four new people featured before that first person can be featured again. When I get a chance I will write out more on how this works but for now I have more important things to do. Like introduce my first favorite commenter: Baby Sister.

She blogs over at La Esquina de la Estrellita. She seems like such a sweet, fun girl and I'm just sad that I don't know her in real life. I'm not going to tell you too much about her, because she's going to do that herself.

1. Tell us three interesting facts about yourself
Hmmm...3, huh? Let's see...my eyes change color, depending on my mood, weather, and what I'm wearing, Boyfriend says I'm creative, and....and I collect mugs from Disneyland.

2. Your blog is titled "La Esquina de Estrellita". What does that mean and how did it come to be your blog title?
When people tell me they're going to check out my blog, I always feel like I need to warn them that it's in Spanish and to not be surprised. :) The title means "The little star's corner" aka my corner, me being the little star. The origin? Long story short, there is a song that goes "I am like a star shining brightly...blah blah, blah". One day it happened to be in my head, and one of my sisters happened to hear me say, at the end of the song, "I'm a star". It became a small family joke and I didn't hear the end of it for a while. I served a mission for my church in Spain, and the night before I left my family gave me star earrings, a star necklace, and a card that said "You're a Star" on the outside with notes from all of them on the inside. Since then, I've always just been the "little" star of the family. In Spanish, "little" is a term of endearment. Estrella = star, Estrell"ita" = little star, in a cute, term of endearment sort of way. Esqunia = corner. So, when I was trying to come up with a title for my blog, I kind of viewed it as my little corner of the big universe that is the internet. Hence, corner of the little star. Wow, that really wasn't a nutshell, was it? Sorry. :)

3. How long have you been blogging and what's your favorite part?
Am I silly that I had to go look at my list of posts to see when my first post was published? Silly or not, my blog officially became my blog on June 13, 2010. So about a year and a half. I have a couple of favorite things...one of them being the people. I love the people that I have met and grown close to, and the people I already knew that I have grown closer to. The other? It's the it's a partial journal for me. I don't write everything I'm thinking all of the time, but it is nice to have at least one journal.

4. You come from a rather big family. What's are some of the best things about bigger families?
Yes, big family. 7 kids, 2 parents. There are a lot of good things about big families. If you're bugged by one or two, even three, members of your family, there are still a handful of family members that you can be friends with. :) Okay, really, the support system is awesome. I have 14 (including in-laws) amazing, smart, wonderful people who have my back all of the time. 14 people to beat people up that may possibly ever bully me. :) Best of all? 14 of the best friends a girl could ask for.

5. What's your favorite Christmas tradition?
Hmmm...favorite tradition...it's silly, but I love that I can always count on my mom putting at least an orange in our stockings for Christmas. And we always get together as a family and play games Christmas eve and day. We used to have more traditions, but with my siblings getting older and having more kids, they don't happen anymore. I look forward to creating my own traditions when I start to have kids.

6. Do you watch a lot of tv and what are your favorite tv shows?
I try not to watch a ton, but I do definitely have my favorites. Let's see...NCIS, The Biggest Loser, Parenthood, The Amazing Race, House, Once Upon a Time, Gilmore Girls (even though it's not on anymore...I own all of the seasons so I can watch it anytime I want. That is the best investment I have ever made, let me tell you!!)...American Idol. I own a lot of canceled shows on DVD, but those don't really count. I think that's all....

7. Do you have any strange or interesting talents?
Strange or interesting talents...let's think...I can wiggle my ears. I think that's it. Nothing very exciting.

8. Do you have a bucket list? What are some things you'd like to do before you die?
I don't have one yet. I guess you could say that making a bucket list is on my bucket list. Haha. But, I do want to visit Europe again. I want to visit Spain again, go to France, England, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, Wales. I want to travel to Central and South America, Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean...so I guess you could say I want to travel a lot before I die. :) I want to learn Italian, perfect my Portuguese, and keep up my Spanish...and maybe learn French. I want to own a big, beautiful library. I have a thing for books. I have a huge list of books that I want to read one day, and it keeps growing all of the time. Hmmm...you've given me something to think about. :)

9. What's your favorite season?
Winter. I love snow. It can make everything so peaceful and beautiful. I love the cold. I love hot chocolate, sweaters, sweatshirts, boots, scarves, beanies, blankets, fires, cuddling....I just love everything about winter. :)

10. Have you ever been to Canada?
I have never been to Canada, but I do have ties there. My grandma on my mother's side is Canadian. One day I'd like to visit. I should add that to my bucket list too.

and boy, does she ever love THE SNOW. I'm surprised she didn't put that. :)

I have followed Baby Sister since she started blogging. And I live about 30 miles from her, so I was able to meet her. Yeah, I cried. I'm a goon ball.
