Meet: The Diva Bee

This week, my top commenter is Haley from The Diva Bee. Normally I don't remember how I discovered a blog, but with hers I do. Bailey from Addicted to Addison does blog design. When Bailey posted some of the new blogs she had designed, a long time ago, Haley's was in there. So I first visited Haley's blog because of her blog design, and I'm still there because I just love her. She's one of my favorite bloggy friends. So visit her blog and say hi. I know you'll love her too.

1. Tell me three interesting facts about yourself
- I have a tendency to get addicted to a new hobby and then the next week I forget all about it later remembering how much I enjoyed it.
- I start every morning off the same way: a mountain dew...currently drinking diet due to calorie intake
- I have a ton of makeup. Literally every possible shade of eyeshadow. Yet everytime I hit up the makeup aisle I still find myself checking out the eyeshades and I just recently realized I have a problem hehe

2. Your blog is one of my favorites, but how would YOU describe it
One word: random. It has no rhyme or reason ie "scrap booking" "crafts" "recipes" "shopping". It's just about my life in general. What pisses me off, what makes me smile, what makes me giggle and just random tidbits.

3. Why 'The Diva Bee'?
Good question. I had been wanting to make a blog but put it off till I came up with the PERFECT blog name. Well somehow "the diva bee" popped up and stuck in my brain for a long while and considering I'm a self-proclaimed diva and my last name starts with b it just kind of sat perfectly with me.

4. Do you know what your name would've been if you had been a boy?
Actually when my older sister was born they chose not to know the gender and thought it was a boy the whole time because there wasn't a girl born on my dads side for 54 years. So when I was conceived my parents thought there was no way I could be a girl too. So they were going to make me the fourth. Well, I didn't come out as Joseph Haley B IV I came out as Haley Alexandria B. Yup I took my dads middle name instead since I came out with a pikachu and not a peter

5. What's at the top of your Christmas list?
Um let's see besides a million dollars, of course, I would probably say a Mac notebook. Preferably MacBook pro. But considering I don't see anyone dropping a double grand on me this year... I'll go with a keurig instead :)

6. Think of the person you're the closest to. What is it about the person that makes you so close?
As cheesy as it may sound I'm going to say Honey. Why? Because I tell him everything. If significant others don't count then my bestie Bee. Because she's the only one that I can actually relate with on several, if not all, levels.

7. What's one place in the world you would love to visit?
Oh wow, um I never think too much about traveling because I don't do a lot of it. Since I don't qualify that as an answer, I'll say Rome. I would loveeee to see all of the old architecture and what nots.

8. Would you share the story of how you met your man?
Oh of course! I love our love story, I think it's unique :) you can read it HERE cause it's somewhat long.

9. What do you miss most about the past?
hmm I try not to reflect on the past too much but I will admit I miss being able to play with Barbies and not having anything to worry about.

10. Ask yourself a question and answer it :)
Why did I participate in answering Venassa's questions?
Because I love her! We email often and I find great pleasure in reading her blog and watching Miss Chloe grow. Needless to say, I feel honored that she even asked me. :)

La Esquina de la Estrellita

Today is the start of something new. I am featuring the person who is at the top of my 'top commenters' list on my sidebar. I hope to try this weekly, or at times bi-weekly. If the same person is at the top the following week, I'll pick the next person in line. There will be four new people featured before that first person can be featured again. When I get a chance I will write out more on how this works but for now I have more important things to do. Like introduce my first favorite commenter: Baby Sister.

She blogs over at La Esquina de la Estrellita. She seems like such a sweet, fun girl and I'm just sad that I don't know her in real life. I'm not going to tell you too much about her, because she's going to do that herself.

1. Tell us three interesting facts about yourself
Hmmm...3, huh? Let's see...my eyes change color, depending on my mood, weather, and what I'm wearing, Boyfriend says I'm creative, and....and I collect mugs from Disneyland.

2. Your blog is titled "La Esquina de Estrellita". What does that mean and how did it come to be your blog title?
When people tell me they're going to check out my blog, I always feel like I need to warn them that it's in Spanish and to not be surprised. :) The title means "The little star's corner" aka my corner, me being the little star. The origin? Long story short, there is a song that goes "I am like a star shining brightly...blah blah, blah". One day it happened to be in my head, and one of my sisters happened to hear me say, at the end of the song, "I'm a star". It became a small family joke and I didn't hear the end of it for a while. I served a mission for my church in Spain, and the night before I left my family gave me star earrings, a star necklace, and a card that said "You're a Star" on the outside with notes from all of them on the inside. Since then, I've always just been the "little" star of the family. In Spanish, "little" is a term of endearment. Estrella = star, Estrell"ita" = little star, in a cute, term of endearment sort of way. Esqunia = corner. So, when I was trying to come up with a title for my blog, I kind of viewed it as my little corner of the big universe that is the internet. Hence, corner of the little star. Wow, that really wasn't a nutshell, was it? Sorry. :)

3. How long have you been blogging and what's your favorite part?
Am I silly that I had to go look at my list of posts to see when my first post was published? Silly or not, my blog officially became my blog on June 13, 2010. So about a year and a half. I have a couple of favorite things...one of them being the people. I love the people that I have met and grown close to, and the people I already knew that I have grown closer to. The other? It's the it's a partial journal for me. I don't write everything I'm thinking all of the time, but it is nice to have at least one journal.

4. You come from a rather big family. What's are some of the best things about bigger families?
Yes, big family. 7 kids, 2 parents. There are a lot of good things about big families. If you're bugged by one or two, even three, members of your family, there are still a handful of family members that you can be friends with. :) Okay, really, the support system is awesome. I have 14 (including in-laws) amazing, smart, wonderful people who have my back all of the time. 14 people to beat people up that may possibly ever bully me. :) Best of all? 14 of the best friends a girl could ask for.

5. What's your favorite Christmas tradition?
Hmmm...favorite tradition...it's silly, but I love that I can always count on my mom putting at least an orange in our stockings for Christmas. And we always get together as a family and play games Christmas eve and day. We used to have more traditions, but with my siblings getting older and having more kids, they don't happen anymore. I look forward to creating my own traditions when I start to have kids.

6. Do you watch a lot of tv and what are your favorite tv shows?
I try not to watch a ton, but I do definitely have my favorites. Let's see...NCIS, The Biggest Loser, Parenthood, The Amazing Race, House, Once Upon a Time, Gilmore Girls (even though it's not on anymore...I own all of the seasons so I can watch it anytime I want. That is the best investment I have ever made, let me tell you!!)...American Idol. I own a lot of canceled shows on DVD, but those don't really count. I think that's all....

7. Do you have any strange or interesting talents?
Strange or interesting talents...let's think...I can wiggle my ears. I think that's it. Nothing very exciting.

8. Do you have a bucket list? What are some things you'd like to do before you die?
I don't have one yet. I guess you could say that making a bucket list is on my bucket list. Haha. But, I do want to visit Europe again. I want to visit Spain again, go to France, England, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, Wales. I want to travel to Central and South America, Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean...so I guess you could say I want to travel a lot before I die. :) I want to learn Italian, perfect my Portuguese, and keep up my Spanish...and maybe learn French. I want to own a big, beautiful library. I have a thing for books. I have a huge list of books that I want to read one day, and it keeps growing all of the time. Hmmm...you've given me something to think about. :)

9. What's your favorite season?
Winter. I love snow. It can make everything so peaceful and beautiful. I love the cold. I love hot chocolate, sweaters, sweatshirts, boots, scarves, beanies, blankets, fires, cuddling....I just love everything about winter. :)

10. Have you ever been to Canada?
I have never been to Canada, but I do have ties there. My grandma on my mother's side is Canadian. One day I'd like to visit. I should add that to my bucket list too.
