"I don't want kids" - A Guest Post

Today I have another guest post this time brought to you by Caro. She is a fellow Canadian and you can take a peek at her blog Thecarozone. This is her short and sweet take on having children.

I dont want kids

When people ask me when I'll have kids, I say that I don't want any.People use to tell me, You'll see when you turn 30 the clock will start ticking.Well I will be 33 soon, and still no ticking.

I believe that some people are meant to have kids and others not.All my life while growing up, I never saw a future for me with kids. And it's ok this way.

Of course I dont want to turn into the old cat lady, but I am willing to take that chance.

Over a year and a half ago I was asked to be the godmother of a triplet.
I am so in love with that kid, that it reassured me that it was ok for me not to have kids and that I was perfectly fine with being a godmother/aunt.

Of course every time I meet a new someone, it is a subject I have to put on the table as most men our age either have or want kids.

I believe I am happy this way and I think that this is hat matters the most.No matter what choice you make in life, just make sure that it is the one that makes you happy.

Venassa I hope your little miracle makes your heart want to exploded so much you are happy.

Same here. Had some major doubts at the end of 30, but Mum´s told me I´d feel/have felt it. I am an happy Aunt. I live to read blogs of Mum´s. I have no cat.
I´m not meant to be a Mum, and that´s ok.

well said - it is all about making the right choice for YOU. don't worry about other people's conceptions of how you should live!

I feel the same way! Someone once told me I should have children because "who will take care of me when I'm old"? That's why I have an RRSP. Plus, pretty sure all the elderly people in old folks homes aren't childless.

As a spec ed teacher, I have a real appreciation for people who choose not to have kids. I only wish some of my student's parents had chosen the same. I don't mean that to sound like it does--In their cases, they didn't have kids for the right reasons, and it shows. Good for you for knowing yourself well.

As long as you're happy, that's all that matters. :)
