10 Overused, but too awesome to leave out, wedding & dance songs

As this posts, I will be on my way to start my wedding weekend away. In honor of my best friend's wedding, I have a couple of wedding-related posts scheduled while I'm away.

Working at a hotel, I get to hear my fair share of wedding music coming from the wedding dances that go on downstairs from where I work.

1. I Loved Her First - Heartland
Very overused father/daughter dance song, but still gets me crying everytime

2. From This Moment - Shania Twain
Bride and groom's song

3. I Got a Feeling - The Black Eyed Peas

4. Locomotion - Kylie Minogue

5. Crazy B*tch - Buckcherry
I was surprised that this one plays so often. It's awkward taking phone calls or talking with guests when you hear the song blaring in the background like I'm at a party. Go professionalism.

6. I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor

7. Billie Jean - Michael Jackson

8. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - Cyndi Lauper

9. Jump Around - House of Pain

10. Summer Nights or a remix of Grease music

Kind of Random Songs
Mambo #5 - Lou Bega
I'm Too Sexy

What are some of your favorite wedding and wedding dance songs?

Things You May Not Have Known About Me

1. The thing that terrifies me the most about having children (besides labor) is when they are a bit older and get sick. (See: My biggest fear)

2. Dealing with my student loan when I was finished school has been one of the most (repeated) stressful situations in my life.

3. I regret taking the legal office assistant course in college, over the business office assistant course. If you took one look at the job listings in my city, you would know why.

4. I'm no fashion expert, but sometimes I see people on the street and wish I could give them a makeover.

5. I would happily skimp on some wedding details when I get married simply so I can have a bigger budget for a photographer. I don't need a fancy cake or the perfect location - I just need my friends, family, and amazing photos to look back on afterwards. I guess I would need the husband as well.

6. Anytime I watch anything sad, I start to think about my grandfather. (Another random fact: He is the only man I have ever trusted 100% with every bit of my life)

7. There's nothing more relaxing than sitting home alone with a coffee and absolutely nothing specific needing to be done.

8. One of my (smaller) goals in life is to finally make the perfect lasagna. I'm getting closer each time. I've learned that lasagna costs approx. $25 to make a big pan. Assuming you already have the pan :p

9. One thing I would love to do before I have my baby? Take that photography course I've been dreaming of. Two reasons: it will be harder to take after the baby is born, and it would mean I'd know how to take better pictures of the baby once he or she is born. The course is filling up quicker than I'd like :(

10. I can't think of a number 10 because I'd rather be cleaning my room.

Songs that Annoy the #?*!^ Out of Me

1. Halo - Beyonce
Especially when she's basically chanting "halo halo halo halo halo halo". Enough already!!

2. Baby - Justin Bieber
It's Justin Bieber, no explanation necessary.

3. Take it Off - Ke$ha
I cannot turn on the tv to a music station without seeing this video. I can't go through a shift at work without it playing 3+ times on the radio. Overplayed would be an understatement.

4. Airplanes - B.o.B. & Hayley Williams
Simply because I grew insanely tired of reading the lyrics in almost everyone's facebook statuses. We could all probably use a wish right now. And posting it on facebook will make it come true, obviously.

5. Ridin' Solo - Jason Darulo
There are only so many times you can repeat the phrase 'ridin' solo' before I want to hit you.

6. Rude Boy - Rihanna
I just can't help it, it drives me crazy. I tried to like it, but just can't.

7. Can't Be Tamed - Miley Cyrus
"I go through guys like money flyin' out their hands" Wait, aren't you still 12? Either way, you should probably turn the slut down just a tad bit.

8. No Air - Jordin Sparks & Chris Brown
I just hate some, or most, repetitive songs, and this is one.

- Cotton Eye Joe gets an honorary mention, as I've hated that song my entire life.

Songs I Should Find Annoying, But Love Anyway

1. Eenie Meenie - Justin Bieber & Sean Kingston
But seriously, wtf is up with everyone and their pet monkey doing a song with Bieber? (Sean Kingston, Jaden Smith, Usher, Ludacris) Trying to up his cool factor, I suppose, but it's not working.

2. Love the Way You Lie - Rihanna & Eminem
It is crazy overplayed, and I'm getting annoyed, but I just love Rihanna's voice in it, so sue me.

3. Meet Me Halfway - Black Eyed Peas
I liked it, hated it, liked it, was annoyed by it, but settled on liking it. It was a tough decision.

4. Party in the USA - Miley Cyrus
I might hate 'Can't be Tamed' but this one is catchy and makes me want to dance in my car.

5. Hotel Room Service - Pitbull
Hated it at first, then I just started to love chanting "we at the hotel, motel Holiday Inn".

6. Right Now (Na Na Na) - Akon
By default you shouldn't like a song with 'Na Na Na' right in the title, but what can I say?

7. Shots - LMFAO & Lil Jon
One of those repetitive songs I should hate, and I did at first, but it just grew on me. Not to mention the lyrics are pretty disgusting.

8. My Humps - Black Eyed Peas
Don't ask me why.

What are your most hated songs currently?

Why Fall is Great

Everyone is writing about the Fall and how much they love it. I'm going to jump on the Fall bandwagon, except I'm not as happy about it.

I've made it more than obvious how I feel about summer. I started posting about beaches and swing sets back in January. I love bikini and shorts and ice cream and sunshine. I love it all. I even love the heat, I just don't love trying to sleep in it.

Fall may have a happy place in my heart, but I don't love it like summer.

But it's time to be optimistic. This is what I love about the fall:

1. My birthday in October

2. Halloween

3. Changing colors and piles of leaves

4. Cuddling for warmth

5. Thanksgiving

6. It leads to Christmas

7. And the first snowfall

8. And finally: No more constant leg shaving to look great in summer clothes!

May your Fall season be filled with happiness and may your Thanksgiving turkey wear glasses.

Why I Like Ontario...

WHY I LIKE ONTARIO

  • Cheap pizza with awesome dipping sauce!
  • Lots more shopping options
  • Lots more food options
  • So much more to do
  • Bottle service:

  • Taxes are cheaper!

WHY I DONT LIKE ONTARIO

  • Cheap pizza pizza does not have garlic fingers. Wtf?
  • Canada's Wonderland was closed the whole time I was up there, until the day I left
  • Crackheads are creepy, dancing down the sidewalks, spitting at cars, yet a tad bit funny
  • Small town me feels lost

Stay tuned for more details and pictures from the long-awaited Ontario trip.

30 Things of Summer - *Updated

Time to go back and take another look at my list of 30 things I needed to do this summer. I updated some as I went along, but here is the current list!

30 Things I Must Do This Summer

  1. Save up and get my iPhone! (Stopped wanting it, but started wanting it again - still in consideration)

What I'm looking for...

I am interrupting the usual random thoughts or lists or questionnaires to bring in something a bit more real. Everyone has some sort of list, or at least a general idea of what they look for in a potential significant other.

  • Great sense of humor
  • Great personality
  • Honesty
  • Trust
  • Attraction
  • Blah
  • Blah, blah

It's all the same stuff. Yeah, sure, we all want someone who's honest, who can make us laugh, who we can trust, but it's like we're clones looking for the same generalized things. And great personality? What does that even mean? Where are the specifics? Well, I am listing the specifics.

I want someone who:

  • laughs at the stupid things I do, instead of calling me an idiot. Okay, I guess he could call me an idiot sometimes. I have my moments.
  • makes me feel safe from all the creepy-crawlers, and the scarier ones that fly.
  • will sing badly with me in the car.
  • makes me feel special.
  • can hold an intelligent conversation with my friend, even though I have no idea what they are talking about.
  • has real opinions on things, even if it's a hate for holidays.
  • gets really excited over things.
  • will spend money on really strange and not-so-manly video games, to try to get me interested in something he loves.
  • tries to help me complete my list of things to do with a significant other.
  • worries about the stupid things I do that aren't good for me.
  • wants to hear about my boring days.
  • encourages me to follow my dreams.
  • can laugh about our stupid fights afterwards.
  • will take stupid pictures with me, and will even take stupid pictures with my friends.
  • likes my nephew.
  • isn't scared to tell me how he feels, or tell me when I'm being a bitch.
  • will eat all the nasty stuff I sometimes put together in the kitchen.
  • will put up with me being kind of emotionally-challenged.

And it seems I've found all of those things.

    My Lists of Fours

Sometimes, I really want to get caught up on my blog reading, but after trying all day, I need a break. Yet I still can't stop clicking and reading. I love you guys. So I decided I would just take a quick break and make my own post :)

I am going to do an entry of fours. Here goes.

Four Movies Venassa Cannot Wait to See
    1. Sex and the City 2 (anyone else?)
    2. Letters to Juliet (the preview gives me goosebumps!)
    3. One for the Money (Set to come out in 2012. I am obsessed with the books, by Janet Evanovich. Read them if you haven't. There is cursing, stuff of a sexual nature, and all kinds of violence and action. She is a female bounty hunter. They are the most entertaining and funny books I've ever read.)
    4. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Four Things Venassa Looks Forward to
    1. Getting my own apartment
    2. Decorating my own apartment
    3. My possible trip to Ontario with the boyfriend
    4. My best friend's wedding in May 2011

Four Things I Would Love to be Snacking On Right Now
    1. A hot caramel sundae
    2. Cotton candy
    3. Jello
    4. Cyclone pop, which looks like this, except the one I love is blue and red

    Great time-wasting websites

I am only 3 hours into my 8-hour shift. I've creeped all the facebook I can creep. I've blogged. I've read blogs. I've tweeted. I've watched tv online. I've played all the Peggle Nights I can play. So here's a list of some of my favorite websites, old and new, that I'm browsing through to kill some time.

Moan My Weather - A whole new way to listen to the weather. A girl really does moan the weather, so use at your own risk.

Where's Willy - Keep track of where your hard earned dollar bills are going and coming from.
    If you're American, Where's George.

Go Fug Yourself - A humorous way of looking at some of the (f)ugly things celebrities wear.

Texts From Last Night - A personal favorite funny website of mine. Texts that people have sent. I find most of them pretty believable after spending so much time with my own strange friends.

Tweeting Too Hard - Some of the more 'self-important' tweets.

Totally Looks Like - Someone/something that totally looks like something/someone else. Some are pretty amusing. See how Lady Gaga totally looks like Alice in Wonderland House.

True Confessions - Anonymous user-submitted confessions. Seems like a decent way to kill time

Fail Booking - Some of the best, worst and by far the funniest of facebook.

Passive Agressive Notes - Notes from angry/annoyed people. I particularly like this one.

Novel Escapes - Reviews on 'chick lit' novels.

I have managed to kill an hour :)

    Lists

I love lists. Always have. Lists of anything. I love making grocery lists, song lists, wishlists. I once made a "Songs that Make Me Cry" list, and a "Things My Sister Stole From Me" list when I was in high school. So that's how I'm going to amuse myself tonight - with lists.

    Top 3 Material Wants

    • Pointed barrel curling iron
    • Fancy, high-quality camera
    • Any kind of nice, new furniture
    Favorite Chocolate Bars
    • Snickers with almonds
    • Any of the Dove chocolates
    • Peppermint patties
    Favorite Video Games

A Few of My Favorite Things

    1. Books
I love love love books. I've been slacking on reading lately, but I wish I had all the time and patience in the world to sit and read all the time. I walk into a bookstore and get so overwhelmed because I just want to read everything. And I'm not a library person. I want to own the book, even if I sell or give it away afterwards.

I found this picture at one of my favorite blogs that I read anonymously. No Hometown. And now all I want to do is rainbow coordinate my bookshelf. What a beautiful idea.

    2. The OC
Not once did I watch the show while it was actually on tv. I came across it when my sister bought the first season on dvd and let me borrow it when she was done. I ended it owning and watching all four seasons before she ever did. I'm not re-watching them all for the second time, and loving it just as much as the first time. Seth and Summer are my favorite fictional couple ever, I think.

    3. Scrapbooking
Because when it's all glued and done, it almost always looks beautiful. It a much more creative and pretty way to look back on all the amazing memories.

    4. These Blogs

    5. These Amusing Websites

    6. Probably the Best Feeling in the World...

    7. Cheesecake
I just bought a Philadelphia Cream Cheese cookbook. There are simple entertaining-style dip recipes, many cheesecake recipes, random goody recipes, and even some entree recipes. Of course the cheesecake recipes are my favorite but this Mini Cheesecake Basket recipe looks pretty cute for Easter.

    8. Photography
It's just so pretty. I'd love more than anything to have a really good, expensive camera to be able to play around with. Especially when the beautiful summer weather comes around.

I was planning on making this a list of 10, but my steam has run out. But 8 is a great number anyway.
